Point by Point Approach to Interior Design Projects

There are a number of different approaches designers take when starting an interior design project. One approach is to focus on improving the functionality of a space. Every space is unique with a varying degree of positive and negative features. Designers are trained to identify potential architectural alterations and interior design elements which can then enhance the space and thereby improve the functionality and space of a room, while at the same time adding interesting design elements to the scheme. Following are a series of practical solutions that are often used by top designers which are popular amongst discerning clientele to provide beautiful, and elegant results: 1. Spaces that have high ceilings and plenty of natural light look sophisticated when there is a dark wooden floor that contrasts with polished plaster walls. Polished plaster walls in a satin finish add texture to the walls and look great against a gleaming dark wooden floor. Additionally, a white ceiling gives a feeling of height and space to a room, and can be used to open up a room. 2. If you have high ceilings in your property then chandeliers are a must have feature. Chandeliers add charm, opulence, and sophistication to a room and provide much-needed light to a room. However if you have low ceilings, don't fret, because you can add light to a room by fitting hidden lighting behind the cornices providing a soft and subtle glow to the room. 3. Regardless of room size, creating a feature wall as a focal point in any room adds a sophisticated design element, and some character to the space. A feature wall can be treated with a number of various finishes ranging from silk, to bronze mirrors with bevelled edges, to a hand painted wall covering. My favourite is adding bronze mirror with beveled edges to one wall of a room because this will create an allusion of depth in the room, and will reflect natural light and light up the room. I think the illusion of more space and more light opens up a room, and gives a room positive energy. 4. Patterned stone floors are the luxury interior design trend of the moment. Inlaid special materials such as semi-precious stones, or metal trims in exotic woods that border marble floors can be a great design element. 5. Satin gold finishes are de rigueur in sanity ware for a luxury bathrooms. The combination of satin gold sanitary ware and dark marble results in a rich, and sophisticated bathroom design scheme. 6. This season, a selection of a quiet palette of taupe, cream, camel, and cappuccino shades are quite in demand since these colours give a room a calming and neutral ambiance allowing versatility in accents shades that can be used in accessories. Therefore, if you would like to change the room, you don't have to change everything and unnecessarily waste money, and can simply change a few accessories.
