5 Ways to Restore your energy on a Business Trip
Written By Anonim on Rabu, 19 Agustus 2009 | 05.40
Business Trips are a whirlwind of meetings, air travel, commuting and client entertaining, which can really leave you feeling drained of energy and longing for that return flight, but I've come up with 5 sure-fire ways to ensure that next trip, you actually come home feeling refreshed!
1.Drink plenty of water
With all those coffees and fizzy drinks, most people are dehydrated at the best of times, so make sure you stay alert and drink plenty of water on your trip. Drinking enough water is vital to getting you through your business trip without headaches, lethargy and the dreaded jet lag we all know so well! Water aids your digestion, helps you to burn fat more efficiently and helps reduce any food cravings you might have, so it makes PERFECT sense to drink water regularly throughout your day.
2. Get a good night's sleep
Inspect your hotel room before accepting it. Make sure it's not near the lifts, the bar or overlooking the hotel loading bays. Believe me, a delivery truck reversing outside your window at 3am is NOT the most welcome of visitors! If you find the first night in your room too noisy, simply ask to be moved.
As a safety back-up plan, ensure that you pack a set of earplugs and an eye mask, to block out all noise and light, and ensure an uninterrupted night's sleep.
3. Eat Sensibly
First off, avoid all boardroom coffees and biscuits. Instead, start your day with a filling breakfast, ideally in the hotel restaurant rather than room service. Grab a few potential snacks from the buffet bar, like yoghurts and fruit, and then ideally pack some healthy snacks before your trip, to take with you during the day and keep you fed and satisfied. Nuts are the ideal choice - just don't eat too many in one go!
4. Give yourself some 'ME' time
Look at your work schedule and factor in some time for you - some 'ME' time. Find as little as 5 or 10 minutes a day, where you can sit down, relax, switch off from phone calls, emails and meetings, and just escape the madness. Turn off your phone and laptop and engage in non-work activity; read a book, listen to your ipod, go for a walk, exercise in your hotel room...
5. Stay in touch with family and friends
Even after the most stressful of days, a simple phone call or text from home can be all you need to feel better. By talking to loved ones you'll be able to relax your mind, forget about work for a while and share conversation that makes you laugh or happy.
Adopt these 5 tips on your next Business Trip, and you will find the time away from home far less stressful.
